Title: WIND AND DIESEL GENERATOR HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM

Abstract: Hybrid power systems based on new and renewable energy sources, especially wind energy, are an effective option to solve the power-supply problem for remote and isolated areas far from the grids. The hybrid system employs a renewable source of power (wind turbine) in addition to a diesel generator; the later is used to compensate for the instabilities of the wind turbine. This project focuses on modeling a hybrid power plant (in Soba) controlled by a wind-diesel hybrid control system so as to supply the load in the associated area To be able to achieve wind generation the velocity of the wind at the plants as well as the turbine power output must be known. A monthly schedule was used in order to calculate the average velocity of the wind and to determine the turbine mechanical power output. If the wind generation is insufficient the diesel generator responds so as to compensate for the disturbances in order to maintain the power supply to the load. To analyses the system ETAP was used and the results (generated power) were recorded.
