Title: Prediction of soil parameters using Artificial Neural Network

Abstract: The objective of this research is to develop a method capable of predicting the soil classification and soil parameters based on the input soil conditions, collected data, and some general descriptive site characteristics. Neural networks provide an effective tool for evaluating relationships between the input parameters of the three dimentional coordinates and the resulting physical site conditions soil classification and soil parameters output. In this paper, Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) are used for soil classification prediction in specified locations at different depths, based on the available site investigation data from selected sites in Sudan. The soil parameters prediction results indicate that back-propagation neural networks have the ability to predict the soil parameters with a high degree of success when the distances bettween the boreholes were short.
