Title: Thyroid - related parameters in individuals suspected with thyroid problems
Author: Ahmed, Alaa M.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to determine whether there was any correlation between serum thyroid hormones, age , gender ,water, food type , body mass index, tottal serum proteines , serum albumin , and serum globulin in adult Sudanese thyroid gland patients. Blood samples (5 ml) were taken from the vein. The serum was analyzed for thyroxin (T4),triiodothyronin (T3) , thyrod stimulating hormones (TSH) , tottal serum proteins, albumin, and globulin . Of the 71subjects investigated in this study, 63 had T4 and T3 within the the referance normal range for the two hormones and three below and five above it. The level of total protein, albumin and globulin conformed with the results of the hormones as they decreased with hyperthyroid and increased with the hypothyroid individuals. No correlation was found between T3and T4 and each type of diets, and drinking water, but then it was found between the three proteins and T4 in the hyperthyroid level and with T3 within the normal range.
