Title: Radiometric Correcetion Of Remote Sensor Data

Abstract: Radiometric enhancement of remote sensor data is often necessary to enable satellite image to be seen easily for better interpre tations. Two main contrast enhancement methods can be performed to satellite sensor data: Linear contrast enha ncement; and non-linear contrast enhancement. The choice of a contrast enhancement method depends on certain conditions. Th e Non-linear contrast enhancement method (histogram equalization) was found to be suitable wh en the image histogram is normally distributed. When the image histogram is not normally distributed the linear contrast enhancement gave better results than the histogram equalization c ontrast enhancement. Two areas were used for this research, Port Sudan (on th e Red Sea shore) and Khartoum (the capital of Sudan)
