Abstract: This paper presents the results from a simulation of the buoyancy effect occurring behind photovoltaic modules. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has been applied as a tool to predict ai rflow and temperatures in a cavity behind a heated panel. The results have been compared with experimental results published in the literature. Further discu ssion of using CFD in evaluating the performance of passive de sign of building envel opes integrated with PV is made. A number of design options were generated and evaluated
