Title: In Vitro Propagation of Strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch) Using Shoot Tip Explants
Author: Mohamed Ali El Balla, Mustafa
Abstract: The strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch) cultivar “Selva” was micro-propagated using shoot tip explants. Murashige and Skoog's salt formulations (MS) with different strengths were compared to Knop's medium. Different concentrations of sucrose and glucose were tested together with various combinations of auxin indole butyric acid (IBA) and cytokinin benzyle amino purine (BAP). Using MS salt mixture at full strength, containing 3% glucose, 1.0 mg/L IBA and 1.0 mg/L BAP, gave the best results for mass propagation of the strawberry plant. The use of MS basal medium induced the formation of the longest and highest number of roots
