Title: Improvement of Flow Properties of Fula Crude Oil

Abstract: Fula crude is highly viscous and its characteristics cause difficulties during transportation from Central Processing Fields (CPF) to Khartoum Refinery which are about 723 km apart. This study is undertaken to overcome these difficulties through four different methods of treatment. These methods were applied in order to amend the crude physical properties and thereby improving its flow conditions. These methods were: (1) Thermal. (2) Thermal coupled with diluent (Naphtha or Kerosene). (3) Dewaxing. (4) Addition of anti Asphaltene. The results of the four methods of treatment were analyzed and investigated. It is concluded that heating treatment, dewaxing treatment and adding Anti-Asphaltene material to Fula crude oil didn't improve the flow well enough to reach turbulent flow. Even at high temperatures (80 0C) the flow of Fula crude was still laminar also it is found that Naphtha was more efficient than Kerosene because the diluted crude by Naphtha reached the transient flow at low temperature (56 0C) while that diluted by Kerosene reached it at high temperature (77 0C).
