Abstract
Eight isolates of Xanthomonas campestris pv. malvacearum were obtained from infected cotton plants showing different symptoms of bacterial blight. All isolates were recovered from a continuous cotton plot at the Gezira Research Farm at Wad Medani. The isolates were compared for race characterization, using ten differential cotton lines. The test was performed under greenhouse conditions of 12hr day, temperature of 20°C-26°C and relative humidity of 65-85%. The different reactions of the differential lines to the isolates suggested the presence of race 6, 7, 20 (HV) and an unidentified race of the bacterium.
