Abstract
Crude powder and ethanolic extract of Jatropha curcas seeds produced anticestodal activity against Raillietina tetragona in chicks when administered orally. The activity at 500mg/kg b.wt of the crude powder or 100 mg/kg b.wt of the ethanolic extract was comparable to that produced by praziquantel at 5 mg/kg b.wt. No untoward clinical signs were observed in chicks receiving 100 or 500mg/kg b.wt of the ethanolic extract or the crude powder respectively.
