Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to build a computer control system for an anti
aircraft gun.
The system consists of a radar as input, a computer, two stepper motors,
interface circuit control unit and an anti aircraft gun.
The basis of this work depends on the control of a motor with high accuracy
limitation.
So we decided to select the stepper motor for its high resolution and its
motion in steps down to the degree of 0.36 .
A mathematical model of the stepper motor control is found.
Three methods of control are used to control the stepper motor to optimize
the best method and the minimum setting time for the gun to the direction of
the target.
Two methods of the three are modern and one is classical but has found
greater application in industry for its advantage. The results obtained from
the classical method are used in one of the other modern methods to learn
from it how to control the system. These methods are:
1-The classical is PID controller. Viz (proportional plus integral plus
derivative controller).
2-Neural network controller is one of the modern methods of control and its
greatest advantage is the correction of system setting automatically. But at
first its depends on another control system and then build its own system.
3-The third method of control is fuzzy logic, which does not depend on a
model, but depends on rules given by an expert or deduced by observation.
Simulation programs were used to simulate the different methods of control
and to find the best method of control.
A simulation program for the time required by the projectile to reach the
target and to make collision with it is also built.
The results obtained from the simulation program are acceptable.
