Abstract
This study concerns with evaluating poverty incidence to household in Elshegara-town. For doing that poverty line was determined according to the households’ basic needs (food items and non-food items). So, the poverty line was SD 384373 / year . Poor household percentage was estimated about 48% for 1480 households, they represent about 710 household, in addition to their economic and social characteristics. Also we found that all economic activities which are practiced in this area have no influence on poverty elimination and depth among poor households. Also the most variables of expenditure which could be used in controlling the households’ total expenditure were determined as “expenditure on food items – expenditure on personal and home service – expenditure on health and education - expenditure on transportation and expenditure on lighting and water services
