Abstract
In this study, it was found that growth of SPG1 which is Mycoplasma capricolum subspecies capripneumonae was evident in most types of liquid media whereas on solid media, growth was evident on brucella agar prepared in goat meat broth with 25% goat serum and poor growth in modified brucella and PPLO agar. Different mycoplasma isolates were obtained in this study. One of these isolates and M.F38 strain were inoculated in goats for experimental production of CCPP. The symptoms appeared three to seven months post-inoculation. Inactivated vaccine was produced from a sonicated M.F38 in saponin adjuvant. This vaccine when subcutaneously inoculated in twelve goats, resisted infection when challenged by in-contact method of infected goats
