Abstract
This research deals with "The Differences of Opinions of Al-Basra and Al-Kufa Schools as to the preposing of the predicate", as mentioned in Al-Anbary's "Al-Insaf". The research comes in three chapters each of which consists of two sections. Chapter One: is a biography of Al-Anbary- his Sheikhs, disciples, and works, as well as an account of his book "Al-Insaf" the aims, approach and style. Chapter Two: takes up the issue of posing the predicate before the inchoative (nominal subject) as argued by Al-Anbary, weighing at the same time his arguments with those of his predecessors. Chapter Three: contains the arguments of his successors as compared with his own. The research is concluded with a presentation of the most important findings which show Al-Anbary's favouring of the Basra School, since he is found to have agreed with the Kufa School on only seven out of a hundred and twenty –one issues raised at the time.
