Abstract
Sixty samples were collected from patients in the ear infection
at Khartoum General Hospital (E. N. T. Unit) during Sept.-Oct. 2002.
They were cultured on suitable media. various methods and
biochemical tests were used to identify the isolates. The following
bacteria were identified: Staphylococcus aureus (38.33%); Proteus
sp. (20%) and Pseudomonas sp. (18.33%), Klebsiella sp. (8.33%), E.
coli (6.67%) and Beta haemolytic Streptococcus pyogenes (3.33%).
Antibiotic susceptibility tests were done on the strains isolated
using Ampicillin, Tetracycline, Gentamycin, Chloroamphenicol,
Ciprofloxacin, Ceftazidine, Erythromycine, Cotrimoxazolf and
Penicillin. The strains tested showed considerable variation in
antibiotics suceptibility .
