Abstract

The present research entitled: Southern African Development Community (SADC) treats the key documents treaty, charters and declarations of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). It includes three sections. Section one contains preamble of the treaty and some articles that deal with definitions, establishment and legal status, principles and objectives , general undertakings as well as membership and meetings. Section two concerns with Charter of the Regional Tourism Organization of Southern Africa (RETOSA) that deals with the requirements for the responsible conservation and judicious utilisation of the Region’s natural, social and cultural resources. Charter of Fundamental and Social Rights deals with basic human rights, organizational rights and some articles related with man, woman, child as well as elderly and handicapped persons. Section three tackles declarations that interested in some issues that face the region such as agriculture and food security, gender and development, HIV and AIDS, communication and information technology as well as productivity. Southern African Development Community (SADC) aims to integrate the region for the proper utilization of region’s human and natural resources in order to combat poverty, AIDS and all obstacles that hinder development process in the region
