Abstract
Africa witnessed a series of conflicts and disputes in the period
following the independence of many countries; but these conflicts
increased in the last decade of the previous century. These disputes and
conflicts prevented African countries from sustainable economic, social
and political development.
The Sudanese Ugandan conflict in the period of this study, was one
of the most acute cases, since movements of tribes across the border
between Southern Sudan and Northern Uganda, plus elements of tension
between the two countries, facilitated this situation.
This thesis dealt with the roots of Sudanese Ugandan conflict
during the period 1962-1972. Chapter one is a historical introduction
which describes the situation in the border and the tribes in the two
countries.
Chapter two analyzes the impact of the war in Southern Sudan on
the nitrification of conflict between Sudan and Uganda.
Chapter three discusses the strategic and economic dimensions of
the conflict.
Chapter four reflects on the cultural and political problem and ht
elements of tension between the two countries.
On the conclusion the research reflects upon the reasons of conflict
during the period of this study and tries to suggest some possible areas of
solution so that the two countries many co-exist.
