Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during March – May 2009 in the Demonstration Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Shambat, University of Khartoum.The objective of the experiment was to compare the productivity of pure stand of fodder sorghum "Abu Sabein" (Sorghum bicolor L.Monech) and hyacinth bean (Lablab purpureus L.) with the mixture of the two fodders. The fresh and dry yield of the mixture of "Abu Sabein" and hyacinth bean was greater than the yield of the pure stand of hyacinth bean, , but the yield of the pure stand of "Abu Sabein" was greater than that of the mixture. The contribution of green and dry weights of "Abu Sabein " was greater than the contribution of hyacinth bean, and the average growth rate was more for "Abu Sabein", compared to that of hyacinth bean. Leaf / stem ratio for both fodder sorghum "Abu Sabein" and hyacinth bean declined with plant age
