Abstract
The aim of this study is to reveal the size and the magnitude of the gender gap in basic education and reasons of the gender in Sudan particularly in Gaziera State in the period (1995- 2005) and also to measure the gender gap in enrollment in basic education during the same period. The study represents the role of women through basic education. The study depends on secondary data collected from the Ministry of education and primary data by questionnaire in Gaziera State. Data analyzed by using SPSS (statistical Packages for Social Sciences). The results of the study reveal that the average percentages of males and females education in Gaziera State are (52%) and (48%) respectively with a difference of (4%) percent. While the average percentages between males and females education in Gaziera State is (48%) and (52%) respectively with a gap of (4%) percent. The factor analysis used to know the reasons of gap in education in Gaziera State. The results of factor analysis show that there are five factors those are economic, social, family, socio-economic and cultural factors
