Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between psychological stresses and needs among parents of physically disabled in Khartoum State. The researcher applied the descriptive method in carrying out this study. Simple random selection method was applied in selecting (300) subjects: (150) fathers and (150) mothers. The tools of data collection consist of three parts: Bibliographical information sheet, psychological stresses scale, and needs scale. The data were manipulated by the computer and the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for T-test and Pearson correlation coefficient test. The most important results of the study can be summarized as follows: Psychological stresses among parents of physically disabled are below average. There are no statistically significant differences in psychological stresses among parents of physically disabled according to parents’ gender (fathers - mothers). There is no statistically significant correlation between psychological stresses and educational level of parents of physically disabled. There is a positive statistically significant correlation between psychological stresses among parents of physically disabled and the level of physical disablement. There is a positive statistically significant correlation between psychological stresses among parents of physically disabled and their different living needs
