Abstract
The present study aims at Psychological and social effects of the war in Darfur as perceived by students in public universities Darfur in Khartoum State investigating psychological and social impact on students (male and female) of Sudanese universities who come from regions of Sudan where civil conflict is taking place. Male & female students from greater Darfur region are dealt with as a case study. The selection of Darfur region students as a case study is because of their large number among Sudanese university students This study adopts the descriptive analytic method. Tow data collection tools: interview and focus groups are used. Twenty five male & female students were interviewed whereas ten focus group with an average of five to seven students were also convened Content analysis was employed by the researcher for analyzing data collected. Classified data were displayed in frequency tables. Findings of the empirical studies inclued the following: a. There seems to be a strong co- relation between the psychological and social impact of war and social coexistence between Darfur university students. b. Psycho – social and economic impact of war vary in degree from one student and another. c. Female students were subject to war impact more intense than the case is with male students. d. Civil war in Darfur appears to be having a significantly negative impact on male & female students. e. . Civil war in Darfur results a negative impact on students academic performance
