Abstract

alcoholic (n-propanol, 2- methyl-2-propen-I-ol and propane -I ,2-
diol).
A systematic kinetic study showed that these reactions
follow first order and fractional order in peroxodisulphate zero
order in the above organic substrates and first order in silver ion
concentrations. Also it was found that the presence of silver ion
as catalyst increased the rate of the reaction.
For these reaction, the activation energies Llli -1 05~ -
50kJ/mol , and other thermodynamic parameter, namely, the
entropy change ~S* -I O~-I JIk, and free energy change ~G =
240-270kJ/mol were evaluated by using the
values of rate constants at different temperatures.
The analysis of reaction products revealed the presence of
acid. Reaction path ways were proposed to explain the
experimental
observations.
