Abstract
The present study has been conducted in two parts: The purpose of the first part is to investigate the efficiency of forestry inventory using rectangular sample plot having different boundary length for the same size. Two sample plot sizes were used (0.06 ha and 0.12 ha). Each size was arranged in three different dimensions to result in different boundary lengths for the same size. The parameters used for comparisons between the different rectangular forms included the coefficient of variation, the standard error and the number of stems per feddan and time spent in plot location and measurement .The results indicated that the shorter the plot boundary the more efficient is the inventory. The second part has the objective of construction of tariff system for different species and localities to test tariffs universality. No significant differences are found between tariff equations for different species and localities for the same tariff number. The results indicated that a general tariff system can be constructed and applied for all Sudanese forest species as a substitute for volume tables .This will save time and money in construction and application and solves the problem of species and localities limitations for volume tables construction and application.
