Abstract

This study tries to investigate the relationship between couples' sexual problems with communication skills and with some demographic variables such as; age, age difference between couple, duration of marriage, and educational level of married couples. The study carried out on married couples in some government institutions: Tax office and Sudan Telecom and some residential quarters, such as: Alzuhour quarter and Alsababi in Khartoum North, and Almakki quarter in Omdurman. The researcher applied the correlation descriptive method in carrying out this study. Stratified random sampling applied in selecting a sample of (268) couples. The tools of data collection consist of the following: bibliographical information sheet and Sexual problems scale and communication skills scale designed by the researcher. The data manipulated by the computer applying the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The most important results of the study are as follows: The couples’ sexual problems are statistically below the average among the population of the study. There is statistical significant difference in couples’ sexual problems according to gender (wives-husbands) in the following dimensions: lack of sexual desire, lack of sex education and feeling of malaise during sexual intercourse in favor of husbands. There is no statistical significant difference in couples’ sexual problems according to age level except in the dimension of the feeling of malaise during sexual intercourse in favor of ……………...There is statistical positive correlation coefficient between couples’ sexual problems with age differences between couples except the dimension of sex enjoyment. There is no statistical positive correlation coefficient between couples’ sexual problems with marriage duration. There is statistical positive correlation coefficient between couples’ sexual problems with difference in education between couples, except in the dimension of feeling of distress during sexual intercourse. There is statistical positive correlation coefficient between couples’ sexual problems with communication skills between them. There is no statistical interaction between gender and level of communication skills on sexual problems except on the dimension of feeling of distress during sexual intercourse. There is statistical interaction between reproduction (delivered-not delivered) and level of communication skills on sexual problems except on the dimensions of feeling of distress during sexual intercourse and lack of intimate interaction during sexual intercourse. Finally, recommendations and suggestions for further studies, and references were cited at the end of the study
