Abstract
Abstract The aim of this study is to determine the trace elements in Maize(Zea mays) plant together with the elements from the soil, in addition, the concentration of the elements, in each sample, will be calculated. Also, to compare the concentration of the elements in the soil with the concentration of the elements in the plant. The technique used in this research work is the X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) Spectroscopy. The elements found in the plant with concentrations in part per million are K(4683), Ca(6583), Mn(16.3), Fe(1015), Cu(4.8), Zn(18), Rb(12.3), Sr(27.4), Zr(4.5), Mo(0.6). A correlation between K and the other elements was found. XRF technique was found useful in identifying trace elements and hence determining their concentrations. The technique is found to be very accurate.
