Abstract
Denis Burkitt, while working in West Nile, Uganda, discovered a jaw tumor in children which was later called Burkitt’s lymphoma (the endemic form). In the fifties and sixties of the last century cases described in Sudan were mainly in the Southern and Western parts of the country where malaria is holo- or hyper endemic. The majority of the cases were of the endemic type. Recently the pattern of BL appears to be changing to the sporadic form with lesions in the breast and abdomen, without jaw tumors.
