Abstract
n this research work the Michelson interferometer is constructed by using the HeNe laser of wavelength 632nm to understand the formation of the interference pattern that results from the two waves of the HeNe laser. This technique is empolyed to calculate the visibility of the HeNe laser. The Fast Foruier Transform (FFT) method is used in this study to fit accurately the maximum peakes (brightness) and(dark)fringes for constructive and destructive interference. Another statistical method is used in this research to investigate the accuracy of the FFT method, this showed that the results obtained by using the FFT method are more accurate. This is obvious from the results obtained from the calculation of the standard deviation for both techniques. The visibility variation of the HeNe laser is obtained. The wave length of the laser source is found to be 628 nm at 30 oC in a good agreement with the value recorded from literature
