Abstract
The geology of Jebel Quili and Jebel Sileitat – Es – Surfur "Younger Granite" complex is described. Both intrusion had similar histories and may well be of similar ages. The felsic rocks predominate over the mafic rocks. Chemical analyses are characterized by high Al2O3 content and suggest that the complex range in composition from peraluminous to metaluminous. Contacts where visible, are sharp and chilled zones are uncommon. The Qeli complex was emplaced within the Butana Green Schists, probably in form of oval plugs elongated approximately N – S. it consists mainly of sodic syenites and granites associated with alkali rhyolites and small intrusions of gabbro and dolerite. Jebel Qeili is the major well field for the Shukriya tribe. Suggestions and recommendations are made to solve the water problem.
