Abstract

The magazine of" Handing Information Overload in a Week" explains how information overload occurs, mentioning that, this happens" when the amount of information we receive exceeds our ability to process it in a meaningful way", it finds out the causes and suggests cures, that a number of ideas are introduced to solve or at lest to ease this problem within a week's time, giving a plan of the work during this week. We find that Sunday gives definition of what is meant by overload, explaining the value of information and proposing a model for handling overload. Monday is to explain how the type and the nature of the organization you work for affects information overload, besides examining how you can help efficient information flow in the organization. Tuesday focuses on the practice of internal communication and the discussion of the need for standardization, besides presenting a model for information communication policy. Wednesday and Thursday examine some personal solutions, that the ideas of Wednesday explain how you can organize yourself to handle large volumes of information in a better way, and distinguish which information is relevant to your needs, while Thursday is for presenting the three ( Ss ) which are the scanning, speed reading and summarizing that can help the quick handling of information . Friday discusses some technical solution to control information overload by using information technology for efficient handling of information. Saturday introduces a summary of the solutions and a check list of the methods of handling information overload
