Abstract

This study entitled "The Renewal Features in the Purposes of poetry of the Abasian Age". It aims mainly at identifying these renewal features and their characteristics. The title is being treated via studying the causes that generated these purposes and the aim behind the new ones in addition to evaluation of the ancient purposes and the artistic characteristics as well. The importance of this study could be realized in the sense that it tackles the purposes of poetry in the age which is considered the peak of Arabic literature. To deal with the study, the researcher used the historical descriptive method because it suits such Kind of studies. The study comes into five chapters preceded by an introduction and ends with a conclusion stating the main findings. The first chapter in this study which consist of three sections discusses the purpose of poetry before the Abasian. The second chapter consists of four sections and discusses of the effect of these renewal features. In the third chapter the researcher discusses the classical purpose and the renewal feature which had taken place and it comes mainly in five sections. The last chapter which consists of two sections is a detailed study about the artistic characteristics of the poem in the Abasian Age. The study comes out with a number of finding stated as follows: 1 – The purposes of poetry during the Abasian Age were deeply affected by the new life style brought by the Abasian civilization. This effect could be realized in the political system, the administrative system, economical system, social system, cultural and academic system of the Abasian age, but this in turn, generated completely new purposes in the poetry of the age. 2 – The classical purposes evolved in terms of theme and style to cater with the development that encompassed all life style. 3 – This development of purposes, lead to a development of the Abasian poem in terms of subject, style language, meaning imagination and structure. Thus the Abasian poets freed themselves of those feature which were regarded a necessity.
