Abstract
The present work was carried out to detennine the aerobic
bacteria present in different fish samples. Samples were
collected randomly from EI Mawreda fish matket (Umdurman)
and Khartoum Centtal.Market. (Khartoum)
A total of 105 fish samples consisting of 21fresh fish
meat 21 putrefied meat, 21 skins, 21. gills and 2.1 intestines
were examined. A1l sampleswere cultured aerobically.
One hundred and thirty six ( 67.6 % ) Gram-negative and 65 ) 32.3 (%
Gram-positive bacteria were identified. The Gram negative bacteria
belonged to the genera Protsust Citrobacter,Serratia, Klebsiella.
Pseudomonas, Escherichia co.li. Vibrioand Aermomonas. The Grampositive bacteria belonged tothe genera Staphylococcus
Corynebacterium. Bacillus, Kurthia and Micrococcus.:
The main sources of fish contamination appeared to be water, hands
end and equipment of fishermen
