dc.description.abstract The study was conducted in AL-Faw Hills (Eastern Sudan). The main objectives of the study are to document the flora of AL-Faw hills, to contribute in updating the flora of Sudan, to document medicinal plants. The material examined includes freshly collected specimens. Methods used are collection in duplicate pressers, dissection, analysis, identification, confirmation of identification, updating of latin names and synonyms and description with special emphasis to medicinal uses. In the present study 138 species, belonging to 39 families were documented. A total of 64% of the species were found to have medicinal uses. One family and three species were identified as new records (not reported in the main flora of Sudan). The geographical distributions of some species were extended from Southern Sudan to Central Sudan (AL-Faw Hills). It is recommended to conserve the plant species of the study area so as to reduce the encroachment of desertification and preserve the plant species of economic importance. en_US
