Abstract
Coronary heart disease is the main cause of
death among diabetics and increasing the mortality of all
types. The coronary heart disease presents most often
as angina or myocardial infarction
This study was done in El Shaab Teaching
Hospital. 111 diabetic patients with myocardial infarction
were selected from the Coronary care unit.
The objectives of this study were to assess the
pattern of presentation of diabetic patient with MI, its
association with hypertension and to evaluate the
degree of dyslipidemia.
The most common associated type of DM with MI
is type II (94.6%) of patients. Chest pain is the
commonest symptom (90.1%). 43.24% of patients had
hypertension and 54.05% had family history of diabetes
mellitus.
Cholesterol level was high in 26.1% and T.G was
high in 28.8% of patients.
Long disease duration was associated with the
development of MI.
