Abstract
This study aims at investigating the prevalence of learning disabilities among underachiever pupils of second round (4-6th class) of government primary school in Khartoum State. It also tries to know the most frequent learning disability, types and fields and how are correlates with some variables such as age and gender. The researcher applied the descriptive method in caring out this study. The tools represent on academic scores, good enough test, exclusion criteria, behavioral rating traits inventory, which applied in selecting random sample of (632) underachiever pupils of whom (228) pupils are classified as learning disabilities (119 males, 109 females). The data manipulated by the computer applying the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) using the following statistical tests. (T) test, (ch2) test and percentages. The most important results of the study are as follows: 11.8% of primary schools pupils are classified as suffering from learning disability , this percentage varies between (10.43%-13.33%). Attention, memory and understanding-reading, writing and spelling- achievement and motivation dimensions are statistically over the average, whereas general type is statistically average and general emotion type under the average. There is statistically significant difference in this learning disability types according to gender in favor of girls in the following dimensions: general type -reading, writing and spelling - achievement and motivation. The field of learning disabilities are statistically prevalent in mathematics compared with other subject. There is a negative significant correlation coefficient between prevalence rate of learning disabilities and the pupil's age . Some recommendations, suggestions for further studies , references and appendixes which the researcher used were cited at the end of the thesis.
