Abstract
This research aims at examining the relationship between psychological security, academic attainment and some demographic variables among secondary stage students in Gezira State (Wad-Medani). The researcher used the descriptive correlational method, the population comprised the second and third classes at the secondary schools in Medani. The total sample size was (299) male and female students selected by using stratified sampling method. The research tools comprised: 1. Primary information list designed by the researcher. 2. Psychological security scale ( Shadia & Isam 1994). 3. Socio-economical Scale (Nazmi Awda 1990) 4. a Students’ academic Records. The collected data were analyzed through (SPSS) using the following tests: 1- Person’s correlation coefficient. 2- T-test for one group/two independent group. 3- Alpha Chronbach formula for reliability. The present research was culminated by the following results: 1- Psychological security among the secondary students was significantly higher. 2- There was significant statistical differences on psychological security between males and female in the dimensions: acceptance of the others, psychological stability and psychological physical well-being (favored females) but no differences were found on the rest of dimensions. 3- There were no significant statistical differences on psychological security among the secondary students attributed to class level variable. 4- There was no significant correlation between psychological security and academic attainment among students. 5- No significant correlation was found between psychological security and socio-economic status of students. The research was concluded by a set of recommendations as well as suggestions for further studies
