Abstract
Research Title: Behavioral problems among secondary schools students in
Khartoum locality, and its relationship with parental styles of acceptancerejection
and socioeconomic status of parents.
Researcher Name: Hagir Idris Yousif Abdallah.
This study tries to investigate the most prevalent behavioral problems among
secondary schools students in Khartoum locality. It also tries to investigate the
relationship between behavioral problems with parental styles of acceptancerejection
and socioeconomic status of parents. The researcher applied the
correlation descriptive method in carrying out this study. Stratified random sample
of (802) students are selected from the first, second and third levels from
governmental secondary students of Khartoum locality. The tools of data collection
consist of the following parts: bibliographical information sheet, Behavioral
Problems Scale, parents' acceptance-rejection scale and socio-economical status
scale. The data manipulated by the computer applying the Statistical Package for
Social Sciences (SPSS) using the following tests; Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Ttest
and one way analysis of variance. The most important results of the study are
as follows: All types of behavioral problems are statistically prevalent among
secondary schools students in Khartoum locality. There is statistical significant
difference in all dimensions of behavioral problems according to students' gender in
favor of male students. There is significant negative correlation coefficient
between all dimensions of the behavioral problems with parental style of
acceptance-rejection. There is negative significant correlation coefficient between
all dimensions of the behavioral problems with socioeconomic status of the
parents. There is negative significant correlation coefficient between all
dimensions of the behavioral problems with the students' age. There is statistical
significant difference in all dimensions of behavioral problems according to
students' classes in favor of the first and second classes. There is no significant
interaction between students' gender with class to all dimensions of behavioral
problems. Finally, recommendations such as; parents should pay special attention
towards their adolescents. Also suggestions for further studies, and references
were cited at the end of the study.
