This study investigates the possibility of using peanut shells as fuel for household consumption so as to replace traditional fuels of fuel wood and charcoal .The study also looks into the economical viability of utilization of peanut shells as fuel. The main objectives of the study are the attempt to find a substitute for fuel wood and charcoal by using peanut shells as an agricultural residue .This substitute is supposed to be cheap easy to apply and not using sophisticated equipment or operation inputs .This substitute ,in turn tends to minimize deforestation and tree-cutting and hence helps stopping desertification. According to the experimental results, the briquettes produced were not good enough for application .However, this may be attributed to some practical problem and some experimental inability .Hence, the idea of the project should not be turned down but rather further accurate investigation and study should be carried out in the future .Moreover, much rigorous economical evaluation of the project needed to be done
