Abstract
This study was carried out at Al Shaab Teaching Hospital during the period
between October 2003- June 2004.
The objective of this study is to determine the clinical presentation, risk
factors and the immediate complication of acute myocardical infarction
among Sudanese females.
In the final analysis it was found that most of the patient's age range between
50-70 years. The risk factors were the following: Diabetes mellitus (46%),
systemic hypertension (40%), positive family history of IHD (23%) and lastly
smoking (9%).
Anterior MI was the commonest type (55%) then comes inferior MI (38%)
followed by posterior MI (7%).
In addition, it was found that more than half of the patients had elevated
cardiac enzymes (CK-MB).
