Abstract
Malaria is a major public health problem in the world, treatment of malaria is
becoming more difficult due to increasing drug resistance. Therefore, the need for
alternative drugs is acute. Pharmaceutical research in natural products represents a
major strategy for discovering and developing new drugs. The use of medicinal plants
for the treatment of parasitic diseases is well documented since ancient times e.g. the
use of Azadirachta indica (Neem) as an anti-malarial.
