Abstract
This study was conducted in ten basic schools children at Assalaya Campus – White Nile State. The objective is to measure the prevalence of Schistosomiasis among the basic school children, and to identify the most affected age group and to assess the environmental risk factors influencing the spread of the disease. The study was completed in four months from November 2006 to February 2007. The sample size in ten basic schools is 322 students. The prevalence of Schistosomiasis is 15.2 %. Children aged 11-16 years had the highest infection (57%). Those who lacked water supply had a high infection rate (31.1 %). Environmental measures were recommended to control Schistosomiasis infection among the children at school.
