Abstract
The concept of strategic management attained much of the care and attention of the searchers and scholars in the field of management. Also, the application of the strategic management process gives the establishments of continuity and cohesive. This thesis studies the role of the strategic management in promotion of the public corporation. Bank of Sudan as a case study. Chapter one tackled the study plan and hypothesis. As for chapter two, its theoretical framework embraced the significations and concepts of the strategic management, its historical and contemporary roots, importance, benefits and objectives. Also it covered the contemporary trends of the modern strategic thought like, the globalization and total quality Chapter two is a case study of the Bank of Sudan. The first section covered the history of the Bank of Sudan since its establishment and until the signing of the peace Agreement, as sector (5) of the Central Bank of Sudan Act, as amended in 2005, provided that the banking system shall be formed by a double system, an Islamic one in the northern Sudan and a traditional one in the south and that the Headquarters shall be established. As for its second section, it is a sort of questionnaire which were analysed beside the studying of their data in which we arrived to the fact that the level of acquaintance with the concepts of strategy is very low in relation to our public corporations and the Bank of Sudan in particular. Also, there exists a correlative relation between the level of acquaintance and knowledge of the concepts of strategic management between each of the actual practice and the efficiency and performance of the establishments. Also the establishments should undertake the dissemination the concepts of strategic management among the officials and workers. Also we point to the necessity of intensification of the training courses in addition to the finding of optimum patterns which may be applied for all establishments according to their administrative nature, and to pay attention to the human resource as being the most important part of the administrative process. Also, the study pointed to the importance of the job- description in our public corporations for it is concerned with the allotment of all jobs. The study arrived at several findings and recommendations the most important among them, is the focusing on the human resource as it is considered the basic element in the administrative process. As corporations should adopt the process of job- description, and granting more powers to the human resource section because it is the one entrusted with the monitoring of the performance of the employees. Also the laying down of training plans assist in the preparation of the required staff for the development of work through long- term strategic plans through which the strategic management (5) concepts may be disseminated in the Bank of the Sudan
