Abstract

Title of Dissertation: Al‐Farra Grammatical Errors in the Analysis of Quran as seen by Alnhas. Talha Adam Ahmad Salih This study deals With the grammatical errors that Al‐Nahas has analyzed in his book entitled “The Grammatical Analysis of Quran”. Al‐ Nahas is is one of the latest scholars siding by the people of basra in their syntactic visions . While Al‐farra is the leading scholars of kufa school at That time . The later has exposed his vision in his book “The meanings of Quran” , his aim was to provide a grammatical verses of the holy Quran. The dispute between the two scholars arises due to their different approaches. The research tackles the motives of the criticized (Al‐Farra) that pushed him to such controversial visions and the motives of the criticism of Al‐Nahas, as well as the tendency leading the latter to reject the syntactic vision of the first. In brief , the study aims at finding out about those errors, and studying them for the benefit of all the interested in this field. The researcher has come out with the following findings: Al‐Farra’s approach in his (Anallysis of Quran) shows that he is partial to some schools and parameters. The researcher attributes this partial to the fact that he undertook to uphold and preserve a grammatical methodology that is different from those of Al‐basra people at that time. This makes him prone to invent things of his own, that may be further from the spirit of the language, and of the belonging to Al Mutazilah. On the other hand, Al‐nahas, as seen by the researcher, in his (Analysis of Quran) and despite his contribution, accuracy and his patience in Knowledage acquisition, he was not original in arguments against Al‐Fara because most of what he says here is attributed to Abi Ishag Al‐Zajjaj, whilst we find that Al‐Farra has his own arguments, the, exaggerated they are. It seems to the researcher that Al‐Nahas had undeclared anger with. Al‐Farra because Al‐Nahas upholds the school of Al‐Basra, and on this base his criticism against Al‐Farra was built . Nevertheless, the researcher‐ is a highly valuable and useful book, since he accommodates in it various arguments: individual and collective, the ones of Al‐basra and those of Al‐kufa. He goes through them and says what is good and what bad. The thing that provides the reader with the Knowledage and benefit he needs, and this is the ultimate goal.
