Abstract
There are Many Voluntary Organizations in the world, which care
for the future of the coming generation without detriment to the rights
of the existing ones. As such, they endeavor to achieve optimal
implementation of the principles of sustainable development through
capacity building infrastructural development such as construction of
water and electricity networks and building schools, hospitals and
mosques.
The term sustainable development is a newly introduced term
which is frequently used by the media the press in publications and in
social and economic studies Authentication of this term is confronted
by a strong resistance. However one could say that it is part of the
borrowed Arabic language. in the modern age, it has been
acknowledged , by the Academy of Arabic language (based in ,Cairo
Egypt ). The term my be defined in the following manner
(Sustainable development is economic and social development, which
provides the needs of present generations without detriment to the
abilities of future generations in getting their needs).
Sudanese have defined voluntary work as a community spirit ,
which had prevailed since memorial times and continued to prevail,
because it is deeply and inwardly implanted through inherited
traditions and religious precept into that community.
Organizations working in the field of voluntary work have more
than one name. Among these names are: non-governmental
organizations, private sector, autonomous sector charitable sector and
non-profit sector. This means that workers in the sector of voluntary
work need to unify the terms, so that the significance of terms could
be clearer and broader.
The ministry of humanitarian Affairs, represented by humanitarian aid
Commission, is currently embarked on drafting Voluntary work act,
so that it may be issued during the year 2005. In response to the
aspirations of Voluntary organizations, the new act is expected to be
more comprehensive and will, thus, pave the way for the regulations
that should allow for the progress of voluntary work in Sudan.
While the majority of voluntary organizations concentrate their work
on fields of women children and orphans, they are almost absent in
other important and vital areas like fighting mendacity, homelessness,
mines and care for inmates before and after release. in the coming
stage we should focus on the quality of organizations and work
towards Sudan. Organizations, which are interested to work in areas
of mines, homelessness mendacity and fighting adverse phenomena in
the Sudanese community, should encouraged through facilitation of
registration and reduction of fees.
Successful management remains a major problem for voluntary
organizations, because scientific management is not yet well
introduced into Arab organizations, compared to foreign
organizations, which have made a great progress in this activity.
The most successful, executives director is the one who combines
knowledge of Islamic sharia, together with knowledge of modern
management science, because work in voluntary organizations
requires a great deal of prudence, tactfulness and knowledge of the
fundamental principles of chartipul work.
Coordination is considered the core of management of voluntary
organizations and the framework, which should be adopted in
partnerships among organization for implementation of the policy of
sustainable and integral human development.
Partner in the field of voluntary and humanitarian work are required
to completely abstain from division and dispute, as it is the only safe
way towards establishing and building an encouraging work relation,
which should lead to the good of the effected persons and the
beneficiaries targeted by the vital services provided by this sector.
There is considerable number of organization (more than fifty)
working in the field of care for orphans, but they are unable to cover
more than 10% of the total number of orphans, which is estimated at
nearly 3,000,000 orphans. With a small additional effort, more
numbers could be sponsored by the Sudanese community, which is
already prepared to do so.
This problem of displacement in Sudan is an old, a new and
renewable one. Therefore, it is indispensable to urge voluntary
organization and Sudanese community to provide aid and assistance
to displaced persons. Moreover, donor countries and international
organization should be appealed to, assist the Sudan in the situation it
is facing.
