Abstract
Schistosomiasis is one of the major communicable diseases of public health and socio- economic importance in the developing countries. Schistosomiasis is the second to Malaria as a leading cause of severe morbidity in most parts of Africa, Asia and South America. About 600 million people were at risk worldwide, of which 200 million are infected and 20 million are severely ill. About 85% of cases and almost all those severely affected were found in Africa. Urinary Schistosomiasis is endemic in 53 countries in the Middle East and most of Africa .
