QoS Performance Analysis for Voice over LTE 3GPP Mobile Networks

dc.description.abstract Long Term Evolution (LTE) is a full IP-based wireless network based on the fact that critical and real time IP services is subject to the delay, Jitter, Packet Delay Variations (PDV) and packet loss. The control and prioritization of Quality of Service (QoS) in LTE network have a significant impact on customers’ experiences and network performance. This paper studied and analysed the performance of QoS based on Quality Class Indicators (QCI) for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) Mobile network when it is carried and streamed over a GBR (Guaranteed Bit Rate) and non-GBR bearers. Using OPNET Tool 17.5 Modular, the LTE network was simulated and QoS was measured for VoLTE traffic. This work is based on two scenarios: Low Load network Scenario and High Load network scenario. Results showed that E2E delay for low load scenario is almost zero for both GBR and NGBR bearers, while in scenario 2, only the highest priority GBR (QCI = 2) has acceptable E2E delay of 0.04 seconds compare to the standard VOIP of 100 ms. Also PDV for GBR and NGBR bearers in low load network are varies from 0.00021~0.00032ms, while the highest user priority GBR bearer is getting opportunity to use the available bandwidth (Excellent QoS performance ) rather than other bearer (QCI = 4) in high load network due to highly congestion. The packet loss rate for low load network for GBR and NGBR bearer are almost 0% approximately, whereas, in case of High load network, the average packet loss for highest priority GBR bearer was found to varies within 0.001%~0.005% while for lower priority NGBR bearer varies between 89%~99%.Fianlly we can concluded that the GBR configuration for LTE user profile is very significant to grantee the QoS during VoLTE services especial in high load network conditions. en_US
